Age UK Cheshire East have recently shared their achievements for the second quarter of their Older Persons Scams Awareness and Aftercare Project.
The two-year project – running to March 2022 – aims to deliver awareness sessions and information to older people groups and those supporting them across Cheshire East.
Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, the project has witnessed great success in its second quarter, including;
• Scam information issued to over 3,300 older people every month through Awareness Update Bulletins and Awareness sessions, raising awareness of more than 19 types of scams
• One-to-one support delivered to older people to combat reasons for being vulnerable to scams, and to prevent them being scammed in the future
• Continued partnership building between the Project and Cheshire East Council as well as town and parish councils in the local area, and banks and third sector organisations.
In light of these encouraging successes, Sally Wilson, Project Manager, has said “we continue to be proud of the project’s progress, especially in these unprecedented times...we are looking forward to its continued success.”
Fiona pledged her support for this important initiative at its launch in April this year, recognising the need for it throughout the coronavirus outbreak and beyond.
