Today, Fiona Bruce raised the Congleton Cycling Project in a Parliamentary debate, and pressed Government for more funding for rural and semi-rural projects like the Congleton one.
Speaking after the debate Fiona Bruce said
"This is an inspirational project, energetically spearhead by Deputy Mayor of Congleton Cllr Suzie Akers Smith. I will do all I can to support it and, whilst this was the first time I mentioned it in the House of Commons it will by no means be the last as the project goes forward.
"I was determined to highlight that whilst it is true this Government has put substantial sums into cycling – particularly for cycling in cities - the funding application processes are challenging and complex and more needs to be done to support cycling in rural and semi-rural areas like Congleton.”
