Fiona is encouraging people to take part in the Department for Transport's consultation on a new edition of 'the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways' (SROH). This is a statutory code of practice that utility companies must adhere to when reinstating roads after completing street works, an issue of local concern with a number of people in the constituency raising it with Fiona.
The new edition includes:
- new asphalt standards to keep roads pothole free for longer
- clarification of areas which are currently open to interpretation
- allowing innovative surfacing materials to be used
