Fiona was assured this week that key workers have been, and would continue to be prioritised by DVLA during the covid-19 pandemic.
Following concerns from some areas that there would be a delay on some key workers being able to access driving licences, Fiona Bruce raised the issue with the Secretary of State for Transport during Parliamentary Questions.
Rachael Maclean MP, answering on behalf of the Secretary of State for Transport, assured those who are worried that the DVLA had provided services such as a dedicated postal address for driving licence applications and specific support through the DVLA’s contact centre during the national lockdown.
While DVLA are now in a situation where they can process applications from all customers as normal, she added, they were also able to prioritise applications from key workers as necessary. Fiona commented:
“I welcome the response from Ministers in the Department for Transport. The UK’s supply chains and emergency workers have been, and continue to be, crucial to this country’s response to the pandemic”
