Patron of Hong Kong Watch, local MP Fiona Bruce, has welcomed the news that the group has been presented a prestigious award.
Hong Kong Watch, a non-governmental organisation that was established to monitor the conditions of human rights, freedoms and rule of law in Hong Kong, has been awarded The Democracy Courage Tribute alongside two other organisations.
Awarded by the 10th World Movement for Democracy’s Global Assembly, it is to “give special recognition to the extraordinary efforts of groups and movements working under particularly difficult circumstances.”
Following the introduction of the National Security Law by Beijing in July 2020, Hong Kong Watch regularly updates Parliamentarians around the world about the crackdown on the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong.
Patron and local MP Fiona Bruce commented:
I welcome the news that Hong Kong Watch have been awarded The Democracy Courage Tribute.
I know they consider it as an award for Hong Kong, Hong Kongers, and the whole movement.
