Fiona Bruce MP, Chair of the All-party Parliamentary Group on Alcohol Harm, today chaired a panel on 'what role can better choices play in facilitating a long-term sustained healthy lifestyle' at this year's Drinkaware Annual Conference.
Panel guests included Prof Dame Carol Black, who gave insights from her Department for Work and Pensions review, and the role employers can play in promoting healthier lifestyles with insights on the role of alcohol in affecting employee productivity and wellbeing.
After the conference, Fiona Bruce said:
'It was a pleasure, once again, to work with Drinkaware to promote healthier drinking, and I commend the impact that this work is having - not only through their highly-popular website, but also through their campaign activity, such as drunken nights out, which helps reduce alcohol-related harm, in particular drunken sexual harassment and vulnerability amongst 18 to 24 year olds. Drinkaware Crewe are trained venue employees who work in large clubs and venues and mingle with customers to help support their welfare and provide assistance to those who may be vulnerable as a result of excessive drinking.
'When I first became aware of this work, there was just one pilot, in Nottinghamshire, and it is great that due to positive feedback from police, venues and others, Drinkaware Crewe is now in twelve areas - well done Drinkaware!'
