Ben Rogers, Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission said:
“If the talks between South Korea's President Moon and North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un, and the talks between President Trump and Kim Jong-Un to come are to have any meaning, the message to Kim Jong-Un must be the same message that President Reagan delivered to the Soviet Union 31 years ago. To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, President Moon and President Trump must say to Kim Jong-Un with one clear voice: Mr Kim, tear down the walls around the prison camps and gulags; Mr Kim, free all 200,000 or more political prisoners; Mr Kim, open the gates to your country. If that message is not delivered, these summits have as much meaning as the piece of paper Neville Chamberlain waved after meeting Adolf Hitler in Munich. If they do, and if Mr Kim responds, this could be the most important summit in three decades or more. President Reagan's speech in Berlin is worth listening to today as we follow the inter-Korean summit.”
