Fiona Bruce MP has today been appointed as Patron of the Sandbach based not-for-profit organisation Cheshire Arts for Health which provides a variety of arts related classes, workshops and events to aid wellbeing.
The organisation aims to provide access to the arts for children, adolescents and adults who may be at risk of, or are, experiencing mental health issues. The emphasis being only early intervention before problems escalate.
Classes and projects also focus on reducing loneliness/isolation, making arts available to those who would not normally be able to afford such activities and specialist groups for teenagers, carers, and those with dementia. The work of the organisation is not just restricted to Sandbach as they take part in community events and do outreach sessions around the area including the new Memory Café in Alsager.
Much of the work is carried out by a strong, cohesive team of volunteers.
Fiona Bruce said:
“I have enjoyed art, both the appreciation of it and the practical side, since I was a girl and so I am thrilled to be able to engage with Cheshire Arts for Health which is using art and craft as a way to provide support for people who may otherwise feel lonely or isolated – and to help them and others develop new skills and make new friends.”
Founder and trustee Tracey Mee said:
“We are delighted that Fiona Bruce has agreed to become a patron of Cheshire Arts for Health. It is a vital step for our organisation to have someone of this note endorsing our work and future objectives.”
